Archaeological Assessments, Archaeological Research Designs/Archaeological Management Plans

Archaeological Assessments (or Historical Archaeology Assessments) are often required as part of a Development Application for projects within a listed Archaeological Area or as a result of a previous assessment that believed archaeological deposits may be present. Archaeological Research Designs/ Archaeological Management Plans are usually a part of the assessment and describe the way archaeology will be excavated.

Test Excavations, as well as all types of archaeological excavations, are a controlled activity under all State legislation. To conduct a test excavation a permit or approval is required from a heritage/local regulatory authority. Conservah can guide clients through this process and perform the necessary excavation and reporting ready to submit to the authority.

4

Salvage/Open Area Excavations

Much like Test Excavations, Salvage or Open Area excavations are a controlled activity. This type of excavation is usually reserved for known archaeological deposits where impacts are unavoidable.

5

Artefact Analysis

Artefact Analysis is often a condition of approval for any type of archaeological work. Conservah can also support other archaeological companies conduct research and analysis in an assemblage discovered during works.

6

Due Diligence/Duty of Care Assessments

Due Diligence Assessment or Duty of Care Assessments are a requirement of any development project in order to fulfil the legal obligation to not cause harm to Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. These reports assess whether there is potential for Aboriginal Cultural Heritage to be present within the project area and provide recommendations on how to proceed further.
